Ground Marshall’s Responsibilities FOR ~ UNDER 9
· Ensure the ground on match day is prepared to acceptable standards e.g.: 1. Ground marking done. 2. Surface playing area setup according to age group [see below] 3. Grounds are unset after the match if no longer being used. 4. Protection on goal/point posts. 5. Sprinklers removed/lowered. · Ground Marshall should arrive at the ground at least 40 minutes before the game. **
· Ensure that games commence at designated times, in consultation with Umpires or if AFL Brisbane Juniors Board Member is present then length of quarters may be adjusted to keep timetable on track. [Time as listed below]
· Ensure First Aid Attendant and stretcher is in place.
· Be in attendance to the Umpires prior and after the game and ensure Umpires have an escort on and off the ground.
· Be the pivot point for information for Visiting Teams and Umpires.
· Oversee the Codes of Conduct on match day &and report to AFL Brisbane Juniors of breaches of Code of Conduct. It is important that Ground Marshalls conduct themselves in a firm but polite manner and are not over officious when speaking to persons regarding breeches of Code of Conduct.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT GROUND MARSHALLS RESPONSIBILITIES ARE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE QUALITY MANAGEMENT OF JUNIOR FOOTBALL ON MATCH DAY. GROUND MARSHALLS SHOULD REFLECT THE POSITIVE ASPECTS OF OUR CODE OF CONDUCT. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A PRO-ACTIVE SERVICE TO ALL THE PARTICIPANTS OF JUNIOR FOOTBALL ON MATCH DAY.

Canteen Location
** If you are the first game for the day/night, ensure you have club keys to open up. Setup grounds in accordance with instructions below, if two games are being played, 1st named game is on the Station [West] end, 2nd game Melton Rd [East] end, advise opposing teams. If another game was played prior, assist the previous games GM in unsetting the grounds after the match is over. All goal posts are kept in the 2nd change room, witches hats and marker discs are also kept in this room. It is also the Ground Marshalls duty to ensure all are put away in the correct place, after the game is over, if no longer required. [If there is another game following, the ground Marshall from this match should assist with this.] FRIDAY NIGHTS ~Instructions for switching on lights is on the power box in the canteen.
