How are the games structured?
Introductory (SuperStars): Modified rules with zones, no contact, emphasis on basic skills development.
Junior (Footy4Fun): Modified rules with zones on larger ovals, catch and release, emphasis on refining existing skills and developing more advanced skills.
Youth: Standard AFL rules, no zones, positional play, full size oval.
When will my child receive their playing guernsey?
The team manager will issue each player with a club Guernsey prior to the first game being played. Parents are responsible for laundering the Guernsey during the season and bringing it on game day. The Guernsey is to be returned to the club at the end of the season.
When is training held?
Traditionally we have conducted all SuperStars and Junior training between 5.30-6.30pm Thursday evenings. COVID required us to spread out over two hours in 2020.
In 2021 we expect that SuperStars and Junior Teams will train from 5:30 to 6:30pm on Thursday nights at Oxenham Park on both ovals.
Youth Teams will train on Tuesday and Thursday nights on the Number 2 oval at the following times:
Tuesday from 5:30 to 7pm
Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30pm
Where can I find the season draw/fixtures?
The fixture will be released once the AFL have received all team nominations. This occurs a few weeks out from the first game.
The draw will be available to you via a mobile app called GAME DAY. Search for your child's team and follow them to access their fixtures.
In the mean time, the AFL have published a Junior football calendar (below) that shows the weekends where competition games will occur. This is a useful planning guide, although aware that the club will sometimes reschedule fixtures to accommodate school holidays and ground availability.
